Cupping Therapy (CT)
Cupping loosens fascia, muscles, and increases blood and lymphatic flow. It pulls excess (pathogenic qi) energy out of the body, moves toxins to surface layers to be removed by the body, and has a calming and sedating affect on the nervous system.
Dry Cupping - Applying cups to dry skin for 5-30mins to release pathogenic Qi from the body, this form of cupping often leaves marks if tissues have stagnation.
Flash Cupping - Light cupping for repeated short periods of time that removes pathogenic Qi and looses the tissues while leaving NO marks on the body.
Slide Cupping - Applying cups to dry or lotioned skin and gliding to release fascia and meridian systems from stiffness and stagnation. May leave cupping-line marks.
Who cupping is for: this therapy is best for clients with stagnation and congestion symptoms, and pooling Qi. These can result in feelings of build up, pressure, stuckness & stiffness:
anxiety, high blood pressure, migraine, headaches, muscles spasms, painful or stiff muscles, arthritis, cold/flu, asthma, allergies, depression, fatigue, cellulite, congested skin or acne, respiratory issues, metabolism issues, digestion or constipation issues, spondylosis, as well as athletes looking to quicken recovery time.
Who cupping is NOT for: clients with Qi leakage: eczema, skin legions, inflamed skin, acute fever, deep vein thrombosis, lymphoma, tumors, recent fractures, during pregnancy, extreme yin-xu (fluid deficiency) or exhaustion, bleed or haemorrhage easily, are on blood thinners, scarring/surgery of 4-weeks or sooner, or has experienced cardiac arrest within the past 6 months.
Disclaimer & Aftercare: Cupping may cause individuals to feel tired, fatigued, or experience flu-like symptoms within the following 24 hours of a treatment. This is a normal part of the detoxification process. It is usually best to rest, keep treatment areas covered and recover after a session. Avoid wind, extreme temperatures, exposure, or exerting yourself.
15min - 60min sessions available
During a cupping session marks may appear on your skin depending on the condition of your tissues and the type of cupping being preformed. These marks are called ecchymosis. The vacuum formed by Cupping draws up the old non-circulating stagnant blood and sticky fluids from deep beneath the localized area. This brings them up to the surface and away from the injured or dysfunctional tissues so that healthy circulation can be restored to the affected area, thus creating space for oxygen, living cells and nutrients to enter for faster recovery.
Where there is dead, static blood, lymph, cellular debris, pathogenic factors, and toxins present in the body, Cupping can leave marks which indicates that the stagnation or disease has been moved from the deeper tissue layers to the surface. The illustration above explains some of these discolorations:
No mark/Slightly pink = absence of pathogenic qi.
Pale, White, or Grey = blood & qi deficiencies.
Droplets or Blisters = excess dampness.
Light color = mild pathogenic qi.
Dark coloring = an exuberance of pathogenic qi & blood stagnation.
Red = heat stagnation.
Mauve = cold stagnation.
Purplish red = severe damp heat stagnation.
Bluish purple = severe damp cold stagnation.
Black spots = Toxins & Congestion.
(The marks can remain visible from 3 days to 1 week.)
